Making blood

Image
On Tuesday we made fake blood! As part of our Science topic we investigated the 4 blood components; plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. To make our blood model we used white marshmallows for our white blood cells, cheerios and red food colouring for red blood cells, water and yellow food colouring and raisins for platelets. The children had an amazing morning and were able to explain the functions of each of the components and why we used the ingredients we did. Each group completed their own PicCollage with a variety of images from their investigations with descriptions. Another great week in Year 5 :)

Viking Projects

Image
Good afternoon, I hope you all had a wonderful half term and it is lovely to see everyone back in school raring to go! During half term I set Year 5 a task - to complete a Viking project. I was absolutely overwhelmed on Monday morning when I saw how much effort had gone into these pieces. Yesterday, as a class, we looked through everything together, including; cakes, biscuits, bread, clay models, swords, shields, drawings, stories, diary entries, fact files and much more. Well done Year 5 - I hope you enjoyed being creative. Mrs Bailey :)
